丙烯腈- 丁二烯- 苯乙烯共聚物

ABS is an amorphous thermoplastic blend, formulated with high impact compound for a consistent combination of impact strength and rigidity.  This is to ensure the smoothness of processing through injection moulding.  It also has good impact strength at low temperature.

Overall, Acrylnitrile gives the material thermal and chemical resistance while rubberlike butadiene gives ductility and impact strength.  Styrene contributes to the glossy surface and makes the material easily machinable and cheaper.



HDPE is a polyethylene thermoplastic produced from petroleum.  It is obtained from post-consumer bottles, industrial extruded pipe, sheet grade products or a mixture of the two depending on the percentage of post-consumer waste required by the customer.  This material is resistant to a wide range of solvents and has numerous applications.

Compare to LDPE, it is harder, stronger and a little heavier but less ductile.  Since HDPE is lighter than water it can be easily moulded, machined, and joined together through welding.



HIPS is an inexpensive, lightweight plastic and has marginal resistance to impact and tearing, even though it can be modified with a rubber additive to improve its durability. 

This material is typically used for handling-trays which accommodate lightweight product.  Furthermore, it also gives a consistent and attractive surface finish that suits visible and durable consumer parts.


Liquid Crystal Polymers

LCPs are a combination of polymers properties with those of liquid crystals.  These hybrids exhibit the same mesophases characteristic of ordinary liquid crystals, while maintaining the versatile properties of polymers.   Main Chain polymer liquid crystals are formulated when the mesogens themselves are part of the main chain.  Meanwhile, side chain PLC is formulated when the mesogens are connected as side chains to the polymer by a flexible “bridge”.

In particular, LCPs are highly inert chemically and resistant to fire.  Thus, has a potential as high-performance microwave substrate and packaging material.



LDPE is a thermoplastic made from oil.  In sheet and other extension applications, it is formulated for toughness and strength.  This material also has good crack and chemical resistance.

It has less hardness, stiffness and strength compared to HDPE, but better ductility, opaque and only thin foils can be transparent.LDPE is often used in packaging i.e foils, trays and plastic bags for both food and non-food purposes.



Nylons are found in the form of thermoplastic.  PA is one of the most commonly used polymers to make fiber and mainly found in clothing material.



PBT is a semi-crystalline polyester normally used in injection moulding, composite, and blend applications.  It exhibit characteristics such as resistant to solvents, shrinks very little during forming, mechanically strong and able to resist heat up to 150°C.

Commonly used in the produce of door and window hardware, automobile luggage racks and body panels, headlight reflectors, and fiber optic cables.



Polycarbonates are thermoplastic polymers used to make variety of products.

This polymer is characterized as a tough, dimensionally stable and transparent thermoplastic.

Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) is the largest-volume engineering thermoplastic resin.  ABS can exhibit a wide range of properties because of its flexibility in composition and structure that allows it to be used in variety of applications.



Polyethylene is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic material produced from ethylene which is obtained from fossil fuels.  PE is also recorded as the highest volume of polymer consumed in the world.  In comparison to other polymers and alternative materials i.e glass, metal or paper, PE is a versatile polymer that offers high performance.

Generally PE is characterised as ductile, flexible and has low strength.



Poly methyl methacrylate is a clear plastic, colorless polymer.  Other characteristics include excellent clarity, UV resistance, good abrasion resistance, hardness and stiffness.  At room temperature, this material is highly transparent, water-white and crystal-like solid similar to glass.

PMMA is widely used for optical applications.



Polyoxymethylene is an engineering thermoplastic with excellent physical and processing properties.

The material has low friction, high endurance strength, combines high rigidity and impact resistance.  Therefore, POM is suitable in the production of gears, bushings and other mechanical parts.



PP is a versatile polymer.  This material is inexpensive, ductile and low strength with reasonable outdoor performance.  Surface of the material is soft wax-like and scratches easily.

Polypropylene properties vary according to molecular weight, method of production, and the copolymers involved.  In addition, it can also serve as both molded articles and fiber.



PPS is an organic polymer comprises aromatic rings linked with sulfides.  Synthetic fiber and textiles produced from this polymer are chemical and thermal attack resistance.  It is a high performance plastic and can resist to very high temperature.



Polystyrene is an amorphous thermoplastic.  This substance exists in solid state at room temperature, but will melt if heated (for molding or extrusion) and becomes solid again when cooled down.

PS is known to show characteristic such as vitreous, fragile and low strength.  Foamed type is often used for packaging and insulation purposes

Polyethylene Terephthlate

PET is a saturated, thermoplastic, polyester resin produced from condensation of ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid.  This substance exists both as an amorphous (transparent) and as a semi-crystalline (opaque and white) thermoplastic material.  PET can be semi-rigid to rigid, depending on its thickness and is very lightweight.

Equipped with good barrier properties against oxygen and carbon dioxide, it is suitable in the production of mineral water bottles.  Generally, PET has good resistance to mineral oils, solvents and acids but not to bases.



PVC is a heavy, stiff, ductile and medium strong amorphous (transparent) material.  It is one of the most explored polymers in the world.  This material is characterized by a wide range of properties. The production is low in cost as essential raw materials for PVC are derived from salt and oil.

By adding softeners, a range of softer materials can be produced ranging from a flexible to an almost rubber-like elastic soft material.
